Tacoma Rough Ride

I believe the Tacoma I have has stock suspension in front and back (TRD model) and the ride is really hard. I know installing Bilstein 5100s in the front and rear helps the ride out, but how much difference does it make? Anyone that swapped the suspension care to comment?

 

i want my suspension to ride a lot smoother too. let me know if it works.

 

Keep in mind that tire selection will also affect ride comfort.

I've recently swapped my non TRD 04 DCAB to the Bilstein 5100s and love them. I have the front set at the middle setting which has leveled the truck. My truck has about 51K miles on it so the stock springs are still in pretty good shape. My truck rode like a car when I had the 265/70/16 Michelin LTX SUV street tires.

Now it's back to riding like a truck with 265/75/16 GY Wrangler Silent Armor All Terrains.

 

Can you put the ride height adjustable 5100s on the front and back? Where is the best palce to buy the whole set? Any of you guys ever tried Total Chaos suspention products? Their stuff looks awesome!

No, the adjustables only go on the front and the rear shocks are side specific. I ordered all four from Wheelers Offroad.

The 5100 rears are good for 0-2 inches of lift. Anything higher, you might want to go to an AAL and the 5125 shock. Best thing to do is give them a call and they can answer any question yoiu might have.

Total chaos has some nice stuff for a long travel kit and UCAs but it's more than anything I'll ever need for my truck.

 

i agree 100% the tacoma ride is shit. for as much money we spent for our trucks they should ride alot better. my wife 4runner is so freakin smooth its crazy
