Yes, 4.5" BS wheels will clear the caliper, many many people run these wheels no problem. That being said...

4.5" of BS is adequate at best for street only driving. I run wheels w/ 4.5" of BS because those are the wheels I already had with my 265's and i didn't want to buy new wheels (yet). I imagine they would be a disaster off-road and rub like crazy.

However, if you are buying new wheels why not get the proper BS? 4.5" will rub on the frame every time w/ 285s, don't think your truck is special and won't rub. If you are ok with some frame rub and are set on some 16x8 w/ 4.5" of BS then buy them. Just don't come back here complaining about rubbing issues.

Sorry if my post comes across as harsh, it's been a rough day...

It's your personal opinion man no harm no foul. I love the pro comp 7089 but they only made them in a 4.5" back space. I'm so picky when t comes to wheels I didn't see anything else I liked. I decided to go with the Mickey Thompson classic lock s

The Mickey Thompson are 4" backspace and -12 offset

Like Dell said, 285's with 4.5" BS will rub the frame at full lock, been there, done that.
I did the Tundra brake up-grade and my wheels are 16x7's with 4.5" of bs. I used a 1/2" spacer on each side to eliminate the rubbing.
All good now at full lock/ full stuff aired down.
If I decide to purchase after market wheels, I will go with 3.75" of bs.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah it does my whole dilemma was I had my heart set on the pro comp 7089 which they no longer make them in a 4" bs only a 4.5". But I rather just go with the 4" of BS for in the future when I actually take the truck offroad more. I really don't want to run spacers at all.

my wheels are vision warriors, the site listed them as having 4.45" bs im assuming this is right. im planning to run 265's but may upgrade to a 285 down the road. but i will most likely get a set of 1" wheel spacers just cause i want my wheels/tires to stick out some more. but with an eibach/bilstein setup will i be able to run a 265/75/16 with no rubbing with the 4.45/4.5" BS which ever?

well i chose neither. My mind is 100% made on 255/85/16. Now I just need to pick a different wheel. Too bad too. I really like to ATX artillery. Only make it in a 16x9 though. What would be the best offset/backspace for this setup?

the thing about a 255/85 its not a wide tire its tall. it measures a 33" tall tire, but its only about 10" wide compared to a 265 being 10.43" wide and a 285 being 11.22" wide, putting a 255 onto a 16x9" wheel will blow it out more, and you will lose some of the tallness that it provides. just throwing that out there.

Yea that is what I was thinking. That is why I need to pick something else for a wheel.

I have this exact setup with no frame rub or rubbing at all. I'm a happy camper

Then I guess you are special:cool:

Could be a result of you running A/T tires and I'm running M/T, I honestly don't know. Everyone seems to rub the frame with 4.5" of BS.

255/85/75 km2's on 16x8 method double standard wheels. They are 0 offset with 4.5 back spacing. Finally a decision made! Do you guys think a 1/2 inch wheel spacer would be a good idea to prevent frame rub?

I can't say anything about the spacers but I would just find wheels that are 4" BS and save the 100-200 on spacers. And run a 285/75/16

The pro comp 8069 require longer studs? Definitely? And are you running 295 with them?

weird... was reading some old discussion
and bang Wilgray2010 brings it back from the grave !? Lol

weird to me... I rarely participate much around here these days
but just happened by chance... to google / stumble across this.

sooo... it's yer lucky day would seem !? Lol

    yes 295's

I felt it was good measure to increase the lengths
of the front studs.. was easy to do.

I did/do use extended thread (ET) lug nuts...
and was able to get 6-7 turns on the stud,
but I wanted more thread bite.

The rear also utilize the ET lug nuts...
and I have not needed change out those studs
think I get 8-9 turns on the stud
the rear studs were seemingly longer then the front.
I may still change to slightly longer rear studs one day,
as they could be a tad longer for more thread bite.

tho' that can wait 'til I have another excuse for pulling the brake drums off.
