tacoma bed

im pretty sure the beds are both the same, but im about to buy a camper shell for a 04 tacoma that is coming from a 95, just wanna make sure itll fit..

 

You really want to make sure the cab and bed are the same... not just the bed.

I think they are close enough...
The beds should be the width and lengh...
but i am not sure...

The 1995 are trucks and the 1995.5 are Tacomas might be way differant...

 

1989 - 1995 'PreTaco' beds are 'close', but not identical, to 1995.5 - 2004 beds. Shells from one can be attached to the other, but they don't fit precisely (if that matters to you).

If it's from a *** 1995.5 *** Tacoma it will fit your 2004 bed.

However ...

You ought to make sure the shell was designed for the same cab style (Regular Cab vs. XtraCab) as yours. XtraCab cab rear walls slant forward, while Regular Cab rear walls are vertical. Some XtraCab shells won't fit onto a Regular Cab, 'cause the forward-slanting shell front 'face' will bang into the Regular Cab (depending on exact model).

A Regular Cab shell will fit on an XtraCab, but you might be left with a very noticeable 'gap' between cab and shell ...

 

thanks for the help, but yea the guy isnt being specific and the just pictures don't really give me much confidence, im gonna wait a bit longer

 

sweet... i was about to post a thread asking a similar question.... im wanting to get a shell for my 95 reg cab.... ive seen ads in the news papers for camper shells off of 6' bed s10's and wonderd if it would fit my truck....

is the bed like a universal size or are there shells for other trucks that will fit my toy????

 

No - there's no 'standard' or 'universal' bed layout shared among manufacturers.

The only way to evaluate how 'close' another truck's shell might be is to compare bed measurements (and even that wouldn't guarantee good fitment) ...
