    I have a 2002 Tacoma 3.4l V6 MT.
I have a vibration that is really noticeable between 65-75MPH. Really bad around 72. Just had my new tires put on. Balanced twice. Replaced center bearing (carrier bearing). Did not help. Any Ideas?

Is the vibration in the steering wheel or the whole truck? Balance doesn't meen the tires are round. Did they Road force balance the tires?

No Not really in the steering wheel per say more like the truck or a seat vibration. They used a balance machine. thats all i know honestly.

If the steering wheel's not shakeing then its probably the rear tires. If its really only at a certain speed then its probably the balance. Are there weigths only on one side of the wheel or both? Most rims nowdays can't be balanced true. Try some Dyna beads, they are great. They are also ceramic so they won't clump up.

Yes there are weights on both sides. I had them rebalanced two days ago and one rear wheel was three ounces off and got that fixed. thought that would fix it but it did not.

They are tiny beads you put inside your tire, also called balance beads, but there are some horrible ones out there. Dyna beads are the best i've used, for many years, just type in Dyna Beads on your search engine and get them from their site. Depending on your tire size will dictate how much you need. Go ahead and do all 4 tires because you will rotate them eventually. As long as its a balance issue theses should fix it. If you go back to the shop watch them balance your tires, see if they rotate true or have a hop. Picture an egg rolling around. No such thing as a perfectly round tire even Michelins have this problem all be it to a lesser degree!

I don't have your truck in my shop, so I can't diagnose it. Could be alot of stuff causing it, just trying to help. But I am surpised more people don't use Dyna Beads more on this site because of the oversized wheel and tire packages we use on our Tacos.

I appreciate your help. I'm going to try the dyna beads. Its just kind of annoying more than anything. I've been reading several posts about vibrations and they are mentioning a bunch of different things such as drive shaft out of balance rear u joint is bad. How much slack is suppose to be in your center bearing? I replaced it but i thought the new bearing had the same amount of slack as the old bearing when i got finished. Should I try greasing the drive shaft? If so what kind of grease should i use?

Yeah there seems to be alot of stuff out there about vibration and they can all be true but I like to start cheap and work up! There should be no slack in the bearing but it shoud flex. As far as grease they are all pretty much the same just stay with a quality synthetic bearing grease.

Thank you very much for your help. Should I have the weights taken off the tires and just use the beads? Or should I just use the beads with weights?

No leave the weights as long as it is a good balance job aka weights not opposing eachother. They say to just add beads to your balanced tires. Balancing is only good for a certain speed range and can only do so much especially if your tires are out of round.

I did notice that my passenger front tire has a lot weight on the outside and small weight on the inside. The others dont have as much. why is that? could it be a bad tire?

Could be but as long as the weights on the same side of the rim aren't directly across from one another it should be fine. What size tire? Factory rim or similar size? A general rule of thumb I go by is if the rim can be ballanced on both sides any more than 3.5 oz on each side is too much. Some require more in some cases but if it does I would break it down and spin the tire on the rim half a turn and try it again. We have a roadforce machine that checks its roundness but the old way still works.

So we shouldn't have an offset issue. Hankook makes good tires so I would assume if one was separating the shop would have noticed as well as if you had a bent rim. You haven't done any serious off roading, heavy hauling or curb jumping to bend anything up have you?

I have the exact same vibe, slightly in steering wheel but mostly in the seats and under my butt. Put new rims on and same tire i already had. Have been balanced 3 times, twice at dealership. I dont feel it at lower speeds but i feel it when i get on hwy. driving me nuts!

I have the 35mph and under vibration slightly due to the driveshaft support bearing harmonic and a slight wobble in the steering wheel at very small turn angles but none straight on. I haven't noticed any at hwy speeds. Haven't addressed my issues yet still waiting on it to break in then i'll fix em at my shop, but deffinatly doing the dyna beads to get smoothest ride possible!
