1995 Tacoma Damage Estimate

I'm trying to see if any of you knowledgeable folks could assist me in letting me know how much this repair job will cost.

Things I know I need:

New front bumper, bottom guard, and grill (I think the 2 bottom parts come as a package with lights. I'll probably need that).



You can see the right side fender his been pushed up and pinched out. When I apply pressure with my hands, the bumper bracket in front of the tire, that has also been pushed up, seems to want to go back into place.

This is a picture of the brush guard bracket that has been pushed up (You will see a comparison of the good side and the bad side)



The last thing that is bent is the bumper bracket on the front drivers side. The passenger side is as it should be, straight and level with the front of the car. The driver's side has been pushed in and turned left.



So I feel like I can attach the bumper, not sure about the grill but it may be straight forward (dunno if all the spot it snaps into are still straight).

But I don't wanna buy the bumper as I know I won't be able to attach it in the truck's current state.

Any idea on how much money it will cost to straighten everything out so I can put the bumper on?

Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I cannot speak to the body/structural damage but just want to give you a heads up about rockauto.com (if you don't know of it already).

You can get very good parts for very cheap there. eg grille, headlights, bumper fillers, bumpers, etc...

It looks like it isn't too bad, but every estimator or body shop person will tell you there could be damage that you can't see.

Sometimes you can pull it straight by bolting a chain to it, attaching it to a fixed object like a pole in the ground and backing up. This is if you have no hydraulic equipment to use, or if you don't want to pay someone to pull it out for you.

 

I bought a nice grille for a little over 100$ on ebay. They are nice quality, but not nearly as nice as OEM. The black parts of the grille do not have a clear edge to them like the stock which looks like it is actually a chrome grille and black insert stuck together. But it does not look cheap or look bad. It is a nice product, just different. The bumper should be the most expensive.

The snaps are tricky. Try not to pry on the grille too much or you can crease or bend it, which is what happened to my old one.

If you're filing an insurance claim, they'll tell you the truck is totalled as the cost would run close to $2000. If you have the equipment, and you're mechanically inclined, you can purchase the parts and paint for roughly $800.

 

Do you have any clue what the claims adjuster will value as salvage value for this truck and how that is calculated?

 

Each insurance company uses a different percentage, but a good ballpark to start with is 70%.

Evaluate the market value of the vehicle by using Kelley Blue Book, NADA or Edmunds. Determine a price by averaging the retail value and the trade in value, the salvage value will be roughly (depending on the insurance company) 70% of the average.

 

She's hit pretty good the left fender is tweaked bad and the frame or radiator support could be down just frim the pics it is hard to tell. Always remember if you order parts for it get inside the truck in the driver's seat like your about to drive it and everything to your left is the left side and everything to your right is the right side
