Anybody ever switched a bestop supertop from a 2nd gen to a 1st? I'm thinking the only difference would be the clamps since the 2nd gens have that mounting rack in the bed.

The soft toppers are the same for 1st and 2nd gens, so the bed can't be too much bigger.

Got the installation guides from both models. Appears every part is the same minus the tailgate bar. The tailgate bar on the 2nd gens is 1" shorter then for the 1st gens. So I'm guess the bed either tapers more, or the tailgate isn't as wide on the 2nd gens. The Bestop Rep suggested more towards the bed taper.

He wasn't able to tell me if the fabric was the same part number though.

Did you ever figure this out or try it? Im wondering if the 2nd gen Bestop Supertop would fit on my 1st gen. Its the one made for a 5ft bed.

Not sure about Bestop. But Softoppers fit 1st gen & 2nd gen and even Dodge Dakota's.
