I have a 99 Limited Tacoma 4X4, V6 Automatic Transmission. My AC blows cold but not very hard. Is there a filter or does the condensor need to be cleaned. Also where would they be located and how do I get to them? Please help, it's hot in Louisiana!

Does your fan motor blow harder when set to non-AC modes?

Hmm, is it making any funny sounds. I live in Florida, and even with bad bearings my A/C blows cold. Even in florida summers I always felt my A/C was up to the challenge. Driving solo, i reach over and shut the passenger vent. No point in having it blow that way. Having good tint helps too. But Usually max a/c for a few minutes is good. then if i don't turn it down it's too cold.

It dosen't make noise and it doesn't matter what setting it's on. I have 270K and have had it since 130K and it has always been that way. I really wanted to try to clean the condensor or filter because it souds like it's blowing hard but not putting out what it should be putting out. I figure it's full of dust or something but I don't know where to start.

There are no cabin filters in these trucks.

And if your blower is weak on all settings, it probably has nothing to do with your AC

Your blower motor could just be dying and need replacing

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
It could be like mine was when I got my truck, it had 170,000 miles of west texas dust on it. removed it, figured what the hell and washed all the dirt and dust and caked on dirt off, let it dry, and it works like new.

I have a 07 tacoma that has the same problem, anyone have a fix? Blower seems to work without any funny noises, just doesn't seem to blow very hard at all. Sounds like it's working on high but just doesn't kick out much breeze. I replaced the blower motor and resistor and no difference. is this just a common problem for tacoma's ? What does the relay do? there's gotta be a solution to this somewhere?

You'll have better luck asking this in the 2nd gen section. Sorry I'm on my phone so I can't really link you to it.

Does an 07 have a cabin filter? If so check that it might be clogged.

If the blower is hitting it's peak rpm, then you have a blockage somewhere in your box between the evap core and the duct work, or through the evap core. I'd also clean the squirrel cage on the fan motor also.

I did a write up on this... "Why you shouldn't park under trees" is the title. For me the evaporator was plugged with willow leaves. The blower motor/wheel comes out really easy then you can reach up with your hand and feel if there is stuff in the case, not all of the case but some of it.

    This ^^^^

Just took apart my hvac over the last couple days - look what I found:

I'm not sure if it's just my truck, but Toyota missed a good idea by not putting a cabin air filter in the HVAC. I got to this by just doing some general cleaning since I was tracing wires from the cruise control that I wanted to uninstall. It seems likely this stuff is restricting airflow. It sits right where the fan blows into.

To get to this point I already had the main dash panel off and removed the blower motor housing. It might be possible to do even with the main dash in the truck.

I also redid the weak foam seals with this stuff. It's advertised as holding up to extreme cold no problem; I hope it can handle heat...

It fit the seams well width wise and made a much tighter seal.

The foam in the blend door was falling apart so I hosed it off. I started to cut out some new foam to coat it, but it sealed pretty tightly and since I live in sunny Southern California I don't have to worry about a lot of cold air getting in when I don't want it to and I almost never use AC...

I washed the blower motor with a powerful spray bottle and piping hot water making it rotate like a water wheel while I held a big tray under it. Came out pretty clean. I anticipate some better airflow and hopefully quieter operation.
