    Hello TW!

Long time lurker (you've convinced me to buy my first Tacoma after all!) and I want to start by thanking you all for the tremendous knowledge you bring to this community. I've especially appreciated your FAQ, First time buyer guide, and free/cheap mods' threads. :D

I seek your opinion on a purchase I plan to make here in the next few days.

    I've found a...
    2000 Tacoma
    2.4 Litre
    Ext Cab
    Automatic
    130,000 miles

The asking price is $6900 and we're at 6,700 now. The owner is an older gentlemen who claims to have done oil/transmission fluid changes quite regularly; both elements are what draw me to the vehicle. However, the bed liner will need replacing and there are a few fist-sized dents which did not break paint.

So why do I need your opinion? Great question! Basically I'm driving some distance to check out this tacoma and trying to decide if this is a good purchase as I've never bought a truck before (buying as a DD and dirt bike transporter). I plan to look for things like rust on the frame, overall impression of the truck, and hope to hear your input as well before going to see the truck!

Thank you in advance for your advice/opinions!

    Prerunner or 5 lug?

    Very good price.
Maybe have a local mechanic check it out?

No pics, sorry! Not a Prerunner, so I believe this would make it a 5 lug?

It's a very basic truck: 2.4 litre, automatic, manual windows, ratty bed liner and a few dents, but low-ish miles and adult owned. It sounds like it could use a good detail and redo the bed liner with Monstaliner or something similar.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me man. Some are more concerned about a little body damage than others. Gotta ask yourself if it really bothers you or not.

I mean you have already knocked him down $200 without even being there in person, lol if you can get it down to around $6500 i think that would be a steal. Low miles and sounds like it was well taken care of.

However i would ask if he has a carproof/carfax or something similar, maybe take it to a local shop and have the engine checked. I've done this with all used cars/trucks i've bought. A truck may look like it's in good condition and then you get a bunch of little surprises.

On a side note, i wish i could find a deal like this... :p
