The VSS can be traced behind the glove box
and is in the primary harness leading to the cpu
you could tap in there and run less wire.

I used the Dakota Digital... but for the 5vz
but would think the YB could be installed similarly as well.

Here's my install

^ Check the wiring schematics first...
as the 3rz could be somewhat different.

here's the more traditional method...

Yellow Box install/3rz

I have seen those i did search before posting. My problem is i have been looking all around my t-case and transmission and i cant find the damn plug! i was hoping yellow box had a plug and play kit. So i email one of their reps and was told that there are 2 different types of VSS in our trucks.

A 3 wire sensor
and a 2 wire sensor

so:
1. I am trying to figure out which one i have
2. trying to figure out where it goes so i can wire it in the glove box.

in scubas case on TTORA he had a 3 wire VSS which means Yellr Box offers a plug and play! and all his wiring was unnecessary. Just trying to get the right setup ordered. I have the FSM but for the life of me cant find it in that massive 1700 page document.

Here is a picture of what i think should be the VSS but it looks nothing like the reference pictures i have been looking at:

Yeah that would be a cable op speedo. So the only way to change the ratio would be to pull the rest of the assembly out of the T-case and replace it with one with less/more gear teeth. Get your money back for the yellow box thingy.

the problem is my speedo is off by like 21% so simply changing the internal gears will not be enough to make the correction.

Do i have any other options?

Looks like your right FordLess...follow the cable into the firewall. so unless it gets converted to a digital analog or whatever signal behind the dash (which i doubt it does) it seems i am shit out of luck. This sucks is there no way to fix this? like i said before my percentile difference is too large to be corrected by a speedo gear swap, unless someone makes custom speedo gears?

Glad u got it figured out
Oh and why not just use the guy he used. Just call him and tell him what you've got and see if he can build it and ship it to you.
