How to diagnose my A/C?

So when I press my A/C button the compressor doesn't engage or anything. It was like that when I bought the truck 2 years ago. I'm finally deciding I need it to work with the 100F+ days when I go to work in dress clothes.

Upon searching I found that if there's not enough pressure in the low pressure line this could be why it won't engage.

So my question is what should I do from here? Should I buy a refill kit and try to add some and see how it goes? Trying to figure out the most economical way to go about this.

Take it to an A/C specialist, they will diagnose for free most of the time. Get it done right and you won't pay for it later.

Drop the $$$ and take it to a shop who can evacuate and recharge along with replace any parts if necessary. The autozone cans have unreliable gauges so you could end up overcharging or undercharging which can leave you in the same predicament.

Hmm I'll see if I can weasel out a free diagnostic. I hate paying for someone else to work on my truck assuming there's a leak or something.
