Tacoma 2wd automatic transmission PCM question

    I wonder if anyone here knows if the 2wd automatic transmission would work with only the power control unit and with no signal from the EFI. I am planning to put a diesel engine in a 96 tacoma and like to use the existing automatic tranmission with its existing PCM. According to the wiring diagram, the PCM receives a signal from the EFI of the toyota engine.

    Anyfeedback is greatly appreciated.
