When off-road on a hot day, my blower motor sometimes begins to chirp.

Just like a cricket. So I removed the blower and put it on the workbench.

    1. How does one get the fan off the motor shaft without breaking the little (1/8th) tab that locks it in place?

    2. Assuming I do remove the fan, can one disassemble the motor and oil the bearing?

I've heard conflicting stories of the blower being serviceable or not.

You can find new units online for $40

Sure beats $150-$200 at the dealer....

Anyway, I chickened out and put the motor back into the truck. Since the cricket only chirps after a few days off the road and in the heat, I can live with it.
