I get the P0420 code from time to time. I clear it and it stays off for a month or 2, then comes back. Recently I've been hearing this weird tin can rattling sound. I can't tell where it's comming from, but sounds like from somewhere near the passenger doors. If I get under the truck and hit the cats I don't hear anything, so not sure if the rattling is comming from the cats.

Can anyone else describe a rattling sound from the cat converter?

My MPG have gone down from 16 to 14 so maybe it's time to replace both O2 sensors and both cats

Whenever I disconnect the battery, my CEL goes away. It doesn't take any time for it to come back on- if I hit the interstate even for a bit, it comes on. The only code that pops up is the P0420 code.
