Well, if the tire pressures aren't too high then the shocks most likely are the problem as they are not valved correctly for our trucks.

Order up some factory replacement shocks and call it done. Sell off the HD Bilies shocks to put some $$$ back in your wallet.

If it still feels firm after giving the new shocks some drive time, throw your blown out shocks back on. Chances are any aftermarket combo shock/coil will still be too stiff because you are just too used to your blown out shocks and super saggy coils.

Used to drive my Dads old as Chevy when I was teen and loved the way that thing road, the suspension was completely shot but she road like a caddy :D

I just got my Tacoma back from the frame swap Wed. night. I had the factory TRD Bilstein rear shocks installed, and the TRD progressive ft. springs and TRD Bilstein shocks installed, and this truck rides so nice now on road, much, much better than the stock factory installed suspension, no more sharp slamming over every bump and pavement expansion joint. Yes, the truck has 131,000 on it, but it has always ridden this way, at least since I purchased it at 38,000 miles.

Hello I have a 2002 tacoma and I am running Kyb shocks front and back. I went with the number 2 upgrade and they are a bit stiffer than stock. I feel some bumps but not that radical. Kyb also makes the stock oe type replacement plus they have a lifetime warranty.

It had the factory installed shocks from 2004. The front springs that I had installed were listed for xcabs, so right now my truck sits level and rides so much smoother.

WAIT WAIT WAIT... You got Bilstein HD shocks but what springs did you put on? Did you pair the shock with worn out OEM springs?

Also, the new suspension components will be stiff while breaking in. But I see what your saying, I put Nitro Chargers in the front with OME 881 springs and my trucks ride is STIFF.... it's awesome in the curves and under breaking, but bumpy rides.... hold on. I really wish there was suspension that could handle big impacts, road handling, and nose dive AS WELL AS stay smooth on imperfect pavement.

Thanks for all the advise on my shock s . I think the Tokico shocks that were on it served me well so now I just want to put them back on but im finding out that they are very expensive ! Any suggestions on where I can purchase the OEM ones at a good price ? Toyota wants $200.00 Each one !!

I have bilsteins HD's on mine, stock springs, rides fantastic...I had the KYB's, didn't like them, way to stiff...

I would be checking the suspension for other worn parts...

What KYB type of shock did you have ! Thinking about the gas ajust style . My Hds are reel stiff and can feel every little crack in the road !

So I put new tires on and new Rack and pinion bushings on my Tacoma , It still rides like a tank w/ the bilstein HD shocks , I really am frustrated with what shocks to replace them with ! Im just looking for a normal riding shock . Any one out there know what exactly to install other than the hard to find Tokico shocks that were on my truck and I wish I could find !!
I don't want to waste more money trying another kind of shock that gives me the same problem .
    Any thoughts or suggestions ?

Were they E rated tires, if so, they ride much stiffer....

What tires did you put on?

And it is a dang truck, you want it to ride like a passenger car, then performance when needed for the heavy stuff ain't gonna be there...mine rides nice and smooth, but it does kinda get a little rough over large bumps and uneven bridge transition cracks....

What kind of air pressure are you running in the tires?

I run 26 front, 29 rear, as per Toyotas specs, have tried all the way to 35 for better gas mileage, didn't make hardly any difference in gas mileage, but was terribly stiff UNLOADED...I only pump up when I know I am going to be carrying heavy stuff or towing....
