that's not the worst i've seen (my old 2000 tacoma was much worse), but it's not great either. makes working on anything under the truck a huge pain.

    i'd pass.

That's nothing, especially for a 98. iv'e seen 2nd gens on here with a heck of a lot worse rust issues

Any new car looks like that after a winter or two in Nova Scotia.

Not bad at all man. Power wash it, fluid film, rinse and repeat every 6 months. Your golden

See if it's been registered for the frame rust warranty... it's transferrable between owners and if it eventually fails the truck will get bought back for way more than you'll pay for it.

Wait, it's a 98 so the warranty would be up sometime this year, probably already passed. Nevermind...

I'd buy that in a heartbeat, the small sections of frame rust are easily dealt with by wire brush and good paint. Everything else pictured is a non issue.

First off I don't agree that it's nothing, in one of the pictures it is already starting to bubble up the paint and looks like a crack has started.

I discussed this very problem on the tacomaforum.com go over there and look under 1st Gens at the rust posts. It seems that the best approach is cleaning off all the old rust (witch is in the pictures) coat with a special type paint and "oil" the frame with used or new motor oil. There is a guy there named "byrd" that seems to know what he is talking about.
