I got some HID headlights for my Taco about 4 months ago and they have been working on and off. So I decided to take them out and use regular bulbs until I could find some good HID's. I spent around $150 on my previous bi-xenon set and was wondering if anyone knows a good website to purchase decently priced bulbs.

I know you get what you pay for, so nothing too cheap but I am also looking to stay under $200. Any advice would be great! Either post below or send me a message.

I would get the mini H1 projector from theretrofitsource. Its really simple to install and not far over your budget of $200.

most people on this site will tell you the same thing, get a real projector if you go HID, all you're doing is blinding people by sticking HID bulbs in a stock housing.

I went and checked out the H1 projectors on the website and I'm confused as to what they are. Is it just a replacement that goes inside my housing with built in HID bulbs? If so that would be awesome.

Well no they're different components. You install a projector lens (magnifying glass thingy), a shroud to hold it and the light in, and the HID bulb. But yeah it's awesome

So on their website would I need to get the complete retrofit kit or just HID projectors?

    Retrofit.

The Best/Safest output you can achieve without blinding oncoming drivers. You could have initially went with a retrofit and you would have only spent a little over 200$, that's my opinion though

Yeah the retrofit kit is around $250 or so which is a little above what I want to pay but if it's some quality projectors with good HID output then it's worth the investment.

Can't say it enough. Go with projectors retrofit. I had plug in HID for about 2 weeks and got tired of feeling like a DB blinding others.

I did have people telling me that HID bulbs just installed into my housings was a pain in the ass.. especially since most of my friends drive lowered cars. But im definitely going to invest into a projector kit and just figure out the install myself. I really want to have blue-ish lights but I dont want to go buy bulbs again.

If you're going with HID's, than you got to get projector lenses. The HID's will have huge light scatter that blinds other drivers and really isn't effective for driving even though they are brighter. You will need to spend over $200 though. I have retrofits from TheRetrofitSource and am very satisfied. Look up some threads and their website. The beam pattern and output is excellent. Also, their kits will last so it's well worth the money.

Im definitely going to go with projectors before the end of this year. So now my question is, if I want to have the insides of my stock headlight housings to be black, should I buy new ones, or do the trick of baking them in the oven to break the seal and painting them myself, then baking the seal back on?
