Sound under dash?

So im sitting here at work waiting for the gate to open up and i start hearing this noise from under the passenger side dash. It sounds like a actuator or motor opening and closing over and over. I put my hand down there and can feel that its coming from back behind the glove box area. What is back there that would be opening and closing? No A/C running or anything.

 

It sounds like the recirc door actuator is acting up.

 

With everything off fresh air circulates so it should be open, correct. Then it closes when the A/C is on and no recirculate. Correct? Could it have a short in it i wonder?

 

If your defroster is on, then it would be turning the A/C compressor on and off to remove moisture.

 

We replace these at Lexus all the time. The actuators go bad (internal short) and make all sorts of noise. The only way to be sure is to turn the key to on (A/C off) and look at the arm that connects to the actuator. If it's moving back and forth rapidly, the actuator is bad.

 

Ok ill look at it after work, when the truck was running and A/C off it would open then close, pause a sec and the do it again. Then stop for a bit and do it all over again. Sounds like it's tit's up to me. Thanks guys
