    I have a 2wd prerunner 2003 3.4l really want to trade in for a 4x4 but put to much money into truck so far, i am thinking bout getting a detroit locker for it! Any suggestions, and would that be good

    ^Not sure if 1st gens were equipped differently, but in 2nd gen PreRunners, the locker was optional and came only with the TRD OR package.

    @Blaise03: A 4x4 with open diffs is much more capable than a 4x2 with rear locker. For a 4x2 truck's locker to have any effect, you are depending on the ground traction to differ significantly within a span of 4-5 feet.

    A detroit locker is loud in turns, because the clutch teeth are constantly slipping. Video of how it works:

    Not 100% on this Ken but I'm pretty sure that for 1st gens if you had a Pre runner, you had a TRD & TRD's all had lockers IIRC...:confused::confused:

    No not all prerunners had them. Only if he has the TRD offroad package.

    Either way to the OP. A locker will NEVER replace 4wd. Id trade the truck if you want 4wd and to do some offroading.
