fog lights in grill????

i have a 01 tacoma with the stock grill.i want to put fog lights on it.have any of yall cut out circles in the grill and put foglights in it.wear should i put them.pics would be awsome.i have searched and didnt find anything to help me really

 

im not too sure i have seen anyone with a first gen that has mounted light behind the grill.........................not really too much room there, even with an after market grill.

 

The subject of cutting the 2001 - 2004 grille 'ribs' to insert lights comes up on CT every once in a while. I vaguely recall someone actually trying it years ago, and they weren't impressed with the result. It's difficult to chop the plastic 'ribs' and end up with a clean-looking setup. Also, embedding the lights in the fixed grille means that they bounce (with bumps) a lot worse than lights with separate mounts. And there's no way to adjust them ...

As already mentioned, above-the-bumper is a very poor location for fog lights. It's an OK location for driving lights.

There have been installations of aftermarket driving lights behind an aftermarket 2001 - 2004 grille (both billet and mesh).

 

I installed a set of PIAA fog lamps in my Tacoma several years ago. These are rather small model 1400 lamps.

They can be made to fit in the louvers below the bumper. I did need to drill holes alongside the lamps to be able to access the screws that hold the lamp in the bracket with an allen wrench.

They work well. They are nice and low. Definitely worth it for driving through the Central Valley where the fog can be really thick.
