Massive camber issue! 96 5 lug prerunner

What up tacoma world! I have a 1996 tacoma 5 lug with a 3inch extended long travel front end running all ball joints. So even before i upgraded to the LT kit i had a bad negative camber issue with my front end tires like this / \. So i changed out all ball joints and tie rods and that fixed it for about a week or two. After that my tires went right back to looking all hella flush with massive negatie camber. So then i checked my crosshafts, which were fine and straight, so was my frame. So this last weekend i check my wheel bearings and they were in good shape, but there was a little bit of play within the bearing itself, the inside ring jiggled around a bit, but all the metal and bearing was in great shape. Im conviced that nothing structural is bent because when i jack up the wheel by the lower arm the negative camber goes right away the second the tire gets completly off the ground. So something must be loose... Any ideas?

looks like you have super thick extensions/wheel spacers on the hubs or huge offset wheels, either way, the front suspension is taxed pretty heavy...

pretty obvious, u trolling?

No its a long travel kit. The arms are 3 inches longer then stock on each side. I had the issue even with the stock arms

Frame twist? Check your cross members. I heard 5 lug frames are trash with no plating.

that means your front track is 6" wider than stock, huge strain on front end components, I would be checking for other worn out parts...

other than the 'look', what advantage to running so wide and weird?

Its not the frame because when i jack up either wheel just slightly off the ground they correct themselves and go straight again. So its not the frame. And im actually 8 inches over stock with the arms and a widrler spindle. I gain 14 inches of travel being so wide. It doesnt strain the parts as much as youd think, because everything is limited before it reaches its full articulation. Obvoiusly something is fudged up though, this damn camber issue is driving me nuts

And i will convert to coil over soon. The higher rated coil and shock do great for a bucket kit though

Have you tried asking an alignment shop to take a look at it?

The fact that the entire suspension is working outside its intended parameters might have something to do with it. I know it's a bolt on kit but Toyota never made 5 luggers to do...well to do much. When you alter it that much you're bound to run into these issues.

LT seems to force even 6lugs into neg camber. So it's not the parts wearing out (though they are) and not holding alignment it's probably just not in spec at all. What size tires are you running?

Im running 30s on an aluminuim racing rim to keep the weight down to help with all those parts. These trucks do well offroad if you limit the BJs and run small tires but your right about toyota not intending for these trucks to do much. Ive had to reinforce alot. But i know it isnt the kit thats making it camber because like i said, as soon as the weight is on a jack and off the tire on either side then the wheel goes back to normal

Is this "long travel kit" homemade by chance? Cause it kinda looks like you have 2 stock UCAs hacked together and a stock LCA bolted to another LCA.

Yeah that's not a 'LT' kit that's the stock shit cut and extended with plate steel.... And it does NOT look very well done for suspension components. This coming from a half ass backyard welder. That looks scary dude

In reality here though your problem stems from your extended arms. You've moved the wheels out quite a ways from the coils themselves. This introduces way more of a moment and makes the spring "feel" like it's holding way more weight than it really is. So you need either way stiffer coils (not recommended) or just take all that shit off and either go back to stock, get a manufactured long travel kit, or hell do a little more homework and make your own kit. I'm all for DIY stuff, it just looks like this one was poorly conceived. Time for version 2.0
