Fuel economy

I figured I would just start a thread about fuel economy in the first generation tacomas. Personally I get 18-20 with mine. Go ahead and post your ideas/experiences on what works and what doesn't.

on my 04 doublecab auto v6 4x4, im getting around 20/21 mpg, but im sure it will drop a hair due to the skid plates and sliders i just installed. im running synthetic in my motor/diffs/transfer case,i have the deck plate mod, and also a dynomax super turbo muffler, and that combo helped a good bit. and this is on winter gas, summer gas comes back, i may get a bit better than that......................my driving is mixed too, lots of interstate and high way driving, and a good bit of city driving too.

Im thinking almost 20K. last owner had them changed before I baught it. So I dont know what type of plugs are in it. But im putting Denso's in. Could the plug gap affect my mileage and cause a slight rough idle?

indeed it could, if its not getting the right spark, especially if its trying to crank with too much fuel coming in. on the new plugs...set the gaps to .040 and see what happens bud.

For the Techron, double bottles work better. The guys over at Miata.net have been swearing buy that method once every 6 months.

Also running 8 ox of water through a vacum line, like seafoam. should take 5 minutes to use this amount of water.....

Also clean up the battery terminals helps. Mine has issues and after cleaning and fixthis, I got more life out of the truck.

Also just removing all un needed dead weight helps.
