I hunted like a mad man for my first tacoma last year searching and researching for at least 6 months before I found my sexy bitch!! What I found after all my months of searching is a beautiful 96 sr5 4wd 5sd manual with 95,000 miles on her. I jumped on her like a lion on a gazzel... Purchase price of 7,800$. So far I've installed a borla cat back exhaust( sounds amazing) cause the exhaust was all rotted out, and the struts were SHOT! So I upgraded to the Fabtech 3.5 inch lift... Dirt logic coilovers in the front... 1.4k well spent.. Also had my stock rims wrapped with 33x10.50 BFG KM2's the day after I installed my lift... This thing mobs now... Durring my suspension lift I came across a busted leaf!! :(

Been Rollin with a broken leaf ever since and it's time I hook my baby up with some new leaf springs... Really want a little heavier duty springs but not looking to make my sit unlevel... Any suggestions for something a little stronger?

Your a 96 so this posses an issue.

Our leafs are shorter then most the 1st gens. Toyota kept the leafs the same length as the pre tacos. then in 98 made them 3'' longer. So while your shopping..make SURE its for a 95-97.

that said you can also get pre taco leafs.

I ran Wheelers 5 Packs with the additional AAL and 1'' lift shackles and 10'' shocks for a long time. Great springs. Very flexy and held weight good for the most part.

But i had to add another leaf from a skyjacker leaf pack for when i got a rear bumper and the RTT and all the other stuff that pushed me over the edge for super heavy.

but with just the wheeler 5 pack and AAL and shackle i had about 4.5'' lift and gave me a great stance with my eibachs up front which were about 3-3.25'' up front.

If you want Dakars also get the AAL with them. you'll have to get the pretaco version of the leafs though to make them fit.

    OR

You can get your front leaf mount moved up an inch and the rear hanger back 2'' i think and then you could get Allpro or other leafs made for 98-04 tacomas.

I've got Alcan leafs and really like them. My springs are setup for a rear bumper that I haven't built yet, so I don't flex as well as Frankenstein. That being said, I really like how my setup works.

FWIW, I will be upgrading to an orbit eye setup very soon here. PM me if you're interested in used springs.

yea you don't want to drive with a broken leaf fo too long.

just get the Dakars or wheelers 5 pack to start out with. Add the aal later. id use the AAL thats made for the packs not a generic one.

I was on their site last night and it said for 95-97 that you need to specify... It's looking like they make leafs for our trucks... Nothing an email can't straighten out

I have never got a straight answer. Sometimes they say it'll fit..or they make the right size..or you need to relocate..so who knows.

    that said.

Expos will give you almost 5'' of lift empty. They a designed to hold a lot of weight all the time. So, bed rack, RTT, Rear bumper w/swingout and side protection and gear.

They will ride VERY stiff if you don't have 200+lbs back there.

but if you do have the weight. They work great.

I bought the All Pro Standard 3" Leaf springs and i had to relocate both front/rear hangers.

This is them with about 200lbs of gear inc the canopy. Little bit of sag

Speaking bed rack... Who makes a bed rack that has a small section that extends over the top of cab with like say light mounts? And I'm always hauling something... Huge interest in these over the cab tents ive been seeing... They looks so fuckin awesome... I was on all pro last night checking out their SAS kits.... I wish I had 20k to blow on my truck.... I can't wait to start saving money (spending) haha

    A bed rack like mine?

No one. Have to build it yourself or get made.

What's yours look like again? I know I seen a bad ass one on here somewhere but can't remember where... What are the best tents you can get?

Did you modify your rear bumper for the tire gate and Jerry can holder or did you have it ordered that way?

There are tons of RTTs out there now. i went with CVT. Great tent and price and fantastic customer service.

rear bumper was custom ordered with swingout. I added the jerry can holder and table. i also had to fix the latch. It was Tims first swingout bumper and he told me it was a PITA and probably wouldn't do another one. Was expensive too.
