depends. If you start to feel sluggish acceleration then it is time to replace or about ever 10k miles

Take it out of the air box, hold it up to the sun. If it looks blocked then its time to change

If you live somewhere dusty (like the desert) you will obviously change it more often. I change mine every other oil change anyway.

well if you read the owners manual and factory recommneded maint guide it tells you every 30k to change engine air and cabin air filters but for some of us that mileage will differ so you really just need to look at them and see.

I don't...ever. I have a K&N drop-in. And no I don't have any issues with it because unlike most amateurs I don't over oil it.

I replace mine when it looks like it needs replaced, had the K&N filter & it looked like crap after 5,000 miles, I think I'm gonna go with the AFE pro dry filter because it looks much easier to manage. The replacement filters look good for quite awhile though, so they are fine as well.

Is the K&N worth it or is there a better filter?

I was changing mine almost once a month with how often I was wheeling over spring/summer (dusty trails out here + always following other trucks). I try to just keep an old one with me when I go out wheeling now and swap it in for the day until we're done.

Not worry it. There are a ton of better filters. Stock is better. If you want reusable then look at AFE pro dry

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
both K&N and AFE allow more dirt into your engine than the paper filters FYI

I agree. I was suggesting if he's stuck on going with a washable AFE has been shown superior to K&N. A paper filter is better for filtering

I am curious why does no one list the filter capacity of your favorite flavor of filter ??

Then is this like keep up with the neighbors they use it so I will as well

I like the Toyota ones If I forget and use them all I get a Wix
