Luckily it happen turning out of a drive way.. only tore the fender up...

I'm gonna go ahead and replace both sides. I'm guessing Moog is the best way to go. Does anyone kno a good place I can get them from?

Moogs are junk. Buy OEM ones. Generally Toyota of Dallas or Camelback Toyota have the best prices on OEM parts

OEM only. They are stronger and will last quite a bit longer. I pulled a Moog off that had 25k miles on it and it had more wear that the 185k mile OEM ones that were in there before the Moogs.

Imagine if you lost the ball joint on the highway. Saving a few bucks on cheaper parts isn't worth it.

    Same.

I have moog upper and lowers. Their lowers have been good (8k miles so far)

Their uppers are trashed though. The boot they use feels like its made of rubber cement and rice paper. It's supposed to be flexy to let grease flow through when I grease the zerk fitting, but it's split vertically and horizontally. Trash, pure trash.

So I ordered some new OEM from Camelback toyota, and it's wayyyy cheaper than my local dealer. My local dealer wanted $105 per upper ball joint...

what failed on you? was it the 4 smaller nuts that stripped out? or was it the actual ball joint that popped out?

im worried about this very issue but was told that its the 4 smaller bolts that get stripped and fall loose. I put locktite on but everytime I hear about one of these LBJ failures it makes me worry.

Sometimes you just have to learn from experience, no matter how many times you tell somebody not to buy *** from experience they don't listen. There is always going to be the exception and of course your new part is still working, just get back to us when you get past the 100k mile mark.

Why is it that the left and right OEM LBJ s are priced differently?

Specifically the 4wd... On camelback Toyota right LBJ for "4 wheel drive " is 93.80 and left is 84.55. Where as the LBJ with the description "w/prerunner ' both left and right are 84.80
