On my fun adventures, trying to track down and murder the Tacoma Shake demon, i've stumbled onto a clue.

Is anyone elses rear driveline off center?

Meaning, your output flange from the rear of the transmission, to the flange on the rear differential, sit a inch or so offset (lateral, not vertical) from one another?

I was changing my Carrier Bearing, and I noticed my shit was slightly cock-eyed. The carrier bearing wanted to bolt up with one side further forward than the other. That signaled to me that something might be wrong.

Thats when i busted out the ghetto plumbs (wrenchs tied to strings), and started comparing straightness (used frame as reference)

Sure enough, the output flange on the Transmission, and the flange on the rear differential, sit laterally offset from one another.

I'm going to safely assume, thats not good.

    You're over thinking it.

Unless your transmission has magically shifted from its mounting points, it was engineered not to be perfectly inline.
