    Hey Folks,

I'm trying to replace the CV boots on 2002 Taco axles. Both axles out; I have the boot kits but I can't get the tulip bearing off the shaft on the first axle.

It moves on the splines; I can drive it farther onto the shaft over the recess for the snap ring but when I try to pull it off the end of the shaft it just won't budge after about 2 ~ 3 mm of the inner tulip bearing splines are revealed. My three arm puller just pops off once I torque it past a certain point but at that point, I'm putting a lot of tension on it; it should be coming off.

    I've searched and the write-up by @TacomaJPP (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/293463-how-remove-replace-cv-axles-1st-gen-d-d.html).

The way he writes it, sounds like that bearing should be just about falling off...

Appreciate any suggestions, especially ones based upon personal experience.

So you have removed both snap rings and the tulip still won't come off?

    hmmmmm... "...both snap rings" ?

where is the second snap ring? That is certainly what it feels like I'm coming up against. I removed the snap ring on the shaft side of the Tulip bearing; the other side of the Tulip bearing sits flush with the end of the shaft; I can't see where a snap ring would reside and the parts drawing is not really helpful.

With the first snap ring removed,
tap the tulip further onto the axle until you expose the 2nd snap ring
its recessed into the end of the tulip.

Will try again that process; didn't seem to want to move far enough to expose anything.

    Thank you for help!
