I was putting the front end back together today and all going well until I tried to replace the tie rod castle nut back on the ball joint. It went on so far and then the ball/stud began to spin with the nut. I have not figured out how to stop the ball from spinning. Unlike the sway bar links, there is no hex socket cut into the end of the stud to secure it while tightening the nut.

Any help appreciated so I can wrap this thing up.

Tap the bottom of the tie rod in to the spindle a little bit, when it's in far enough it won't spin with the castle nut.

Thus happened to me on my 2nd gen on driver side when putting on OME lift

I believe I either pulled on the knuckle of pushed on it while tightening and it fought and went back no problem.

Have ran into this a million times when reconnecting tie-rods. I usually take a pry bar of some sort and pry the tie rod towards the spindle while tightening the nut.

Either way works really, I do all my stuff by myself so not having to hold the spindle helps a lot.

Thanks a lot guys. I removed all three with a few taps from a three pound maul, I'll try setting it back in the socket with a couple more taps.

Gotta say, I've learned a ton doing this job.

First time is always the hardest, after doing it 20 times or so it gets a lot easier.
