Does any one have any ideas about how i can get my 2.7 to open up a bit. I am thinking about going with a header system but wanted some ideas before i start this project.

    Not cheap, and not easy.

It falls under "if you have to ask, you should not do it"

You have a 10 year old truck with a 4 cylinder engine.
It's not a race truck and never will be.

    Minor.
It will sound better if you are just worried that it sounds like a Hoover, but any power increase will need a dyno to actually measure.

Turbocharger or supercharger is the only thing that's going to show an improvement on the butt dyno.

Regear your diffs could be a solution if you're just looking for better acceleration or going up in tire size. Costs ~$1k though

Going up in tire size will hurt acceleration.
Lower gears will help (same as smaller tires).
