    hello there ...

I have been running bf goodrich at/ko and need new tires
now, factory size says 265r 70r16 but the ko's i have now are 255's..any reason for that ?? i bought the truck used.

i have been hearing good things about the cooper at3 , which i was thinking
about giving a shot . if i do, should i stay with the 255's or go to 265?
im also a little confused if i should get the LT or P metric ? i really dont tow anything and every now and then will move weights and lumber but nothing too crazy . bare with me here im a newbie....:(

What is the rest of the numbers? 255/75-17 or 255/85-16 or ??

P-metric tires are primarily for use on pavement. LT (light truck) tires have a much more durable construction and are also heavier as a result. The type you choose depends on how you use your truck

Personally, I would go with the factory 265/70/16 in an LT tire for all-around normal truck usage -- meaning mostly pavement, some light off road, carrying the occasional heavy load or towing.

What you are running is slightly smaller and narrower. Narrower is perceived as better in many conditions, but most people would go a little taller (255/85) at the same time. This would be good for muddy conditions or aired down for rocky trail stuff. A wider tire may perform better in sandy conditions.

But again, for general truck use, the standard size in an LT tire would be my choice.

i run 265/75/16's BFG TA/KO and love them i go for the (LT) "D" or "E" rating because they are more durable

D and E ratings are weight capacity, not durability. They are no more durable than a C rated. A C rated is 6 ply, a D rated is 8 ply and an E rated is 10 ply tread. This allows for greater weight capacity. The sidewall is still 2 ply rated on all 3 and the durability is the same

Ok .. Thanks for the info fellas ..

Has anyone tried the cooper at3 ??
The tire guy is trying to pitch these

The at / ko's have been pretty nice
But are pretty steep for an all around tire
