Trans mount

I am going to replace my trans mount, I has some splits in the rubber and I am thinking that It is related to my drivetrain viberation at speed.

So after looking at replacement mounts I found this

TCC1326 transmission mount is a direct bolt in for the R150F 4wd manual transmission found in 95-04 Tacoma truck with a 5VZ-FE (6 cylinder) engine.



I know that poly does not absorbe vibrations as well as rubber, but this thing looks like a great mount that will not break,

What do you guys think??

How many mounts are on the 3.4L 5VZ-FE (6 cylinder) and how did you check them? Just curious.

 

The rear mount (pictured) is at the rear of the transmission. It mounts on the crossmember right next to the transfer case.

Gently pry up-down and side-to-side. It shouldnt move much. If it does, and you see lines (look carefully at the rubber blocks), you will want to replace it, since its on its way to being fully detached. Once its toast, theres really nothing holding down the rear end of your tranny and transfer case.


Also OP, get your driveshaft rebalanced. when you replaced U-joints, the more than likely werent OEM, and they have the fill nipple outside on the cup. That weight is nominal, but its noticeable.

 

Do i just take this to the driveshaft shop and ask them to rebalance?
As far as the u joints I have checked them for play, and lubed them.
I can not tell if there oem or after market units, I will double check when I get home.

 

If you do that..you HAVE to get solid motor mounts too.

i have that mount and the BOMB proof motor mounts. motor mounts suck to get in..vibes at idle more..but not much. If anything i only noticed vibes when starting from a stop

For what it is worth I have had my 4X Innovations mount in over 50,000 miles so far so good.

I did notice more vibration when stopped but after this long I don`t notice it any more.

The work is excellent at least on mine

 

Thanks for the input. I am waiting for the rain to stop and my truck to dry before I go crawling underneath to look at that mount.

 

How was your install @Wyoming09 ?

I'm 80% sure the transmission mount is shredded on my truck and giving me an annoying clunk. Did it take you more than a few hours?

"Brake" the bolts free --> support transmission--> remove old mount--> install new mount--> open beer

did the install go like that?

 

Well it could have I installed mine when doing the clutch .

Pretty straight forward then I always put new bolts in .

Living in Pa sometimes it can be interesting getting hardware apart

 

Well. I took a look under last night and everything is fine. Nothing is broke as far as I can see. Maybe the carrier bearing is getting worn, but no real idea of what's going on.

Putting some new suspension on this week, but that's for the "what did you do today" thread.

For what it is worth I have been on some fresh paved roads so bad I pulled over and crawled under the truck thinking I was on the verge of a major failure.

I got home Jacked all the wheels up looking for a broken belt on a tire .

Never did Find anything !!

 

I wish it was a road issue. I have been hunting but I think it honestly is just a whole hell of a lot of axle wrap. I'm going to ask in a different post for some help. I think I have a way to reduce it, but not sure quite yet.

Does anyone know what the Toyota part number is for the mount? (2004 3.4v6 xtra cab 4x4 manual trans)
