Newbie needs help with a little info

    Hi there,

    I'm negotiating to get an experimental fuel-saving thing installed on my 2000 Tacoma, but the mechanic wants a little information which he says should be available in a Haynes or Chilton manual. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a move and that stuff is packed away. Plus I am pretty non-mechanical! So I was wondering if anyone could help me out here with these questions:

    "Does your vehicle have a MAP Sensor or MAF Sensor or both?
    ... Also find out how many wires are on it, usually between 3-5 wires.
    Then find out which of these wires is the Positive Supply wire and which one is the Ground."

    i think toyotas have both map and maf.


    Now why is a mechanic asking you to look and see if these are on your vehicle? I think id find someone else to do the work if he can figure it out!

    I think the experiment is that "water for fuel" assembly. A 12v charge is introduced to a seperate tank of water & baking soda (catalyst) with two non-touching rods or coiled stainless wires + & -. H2O molecules are seperated back into H & O atoms and sucked into the air intake near the throttle body via a hose linked between the water tank & air intake. A new fuel of highly combustible hydrogen is an added fuel source and is mixed with the gas vapors.
    This did not work properly because the MAF sensor detected extra oxygen and the computer increased the gas to get the mixture correct from the new lean status. Now, the trick was to fool the MAF to not sense the added O. They came up with some gizmo that you splice into the MAF and be able to fool the MAF into thinking the O level is low so the computer decreases the gas flow. The H fuel makes up for the decreased gas and your mileage is supposed to increase alot.
    By products of this is less gas emissions from less being burned and water from the H & O atoms being reintroduced again and ignited in the combustion chamber.
    His mechanic need to know if he has a MAF or MAP because of the wiring info needed. Ground and the wire going to the computer are the two needed for hooking up the gizmo.

    Thanks for the responses. Yes, it's the Water4gas. Has anyone experimented with it?

    He's asking because I'll only be in town briefly and he wanted me to get him the information to save him some time.

    Okay, so it's MAF? How do I find out about the number of wires and positive supply/ground thing?
