95-97 replacement headlight assemblies?

    Someone has to have some recommendations.

    The roundeyes assemblies I have had bookmarked for 3 or 4 years now are no longer available.

    I was looking at these: http://www.autoanything.com/lights/74A5157A0A0.aspx

    Because they're glass lenses and metal housing backs. I read a lot of reviews and they're all good to great.

    I'm just wondering if a "universal" fitting assembly will fit in a 95-97 Tacoma? Two reviews between Amazon and Autoanything are from guys with 96s so it may seem like a good fit.

    That said. Does anyone have any recommendations for high quality headlight assemblies with good light output and beams?

    You are saying you want to convert from a sealed unit to a halogen? I just replaced my headlights and I quite enjoy the $6 per headlight and they are nice and bright and easy to replace

    I'm converting my 98-00 front end to a 95-97.

    And I do not want sealed beams. I would prefer an H4 conversion kit thingamabobby (after all the reading and replies I've gotten here over the years).

    The first link was to my conversion, the second link was to the housings.

    The 7x6 ('95-'97) Pilot Housings are all plastic, socketed for H4 bulbs.

    Edit: An HID conversion kit (in my situation) is new housings, and a full HID projector kit ($300) from TRS to install in the new housings.

    Just replacing sealed beam with H4 housings is about $30 and you can put whatever H4 bulb in them you want.

    I have these also. 2nd set. You simply cannot beat the price from Amazon! Plus I figured the plastic would be a bit more durable than the glass. I would think if a small rock hit the lens at interstate speeds, it could possibly crack. I may be wrong though. Only downside is that the Pilot housings do not have to best beam. But I don't mind it. If I want a perfect beam, I'd go with projectors and retrofit some HID's...

    Oil field truck with 250k miles...original powertain. Wheelers 881's/5-pack, Energy bushings throughout.
    I would without a doubt go with a set of Autopal Euro 200mm glass units. They are a universal fitment and are listed to work on 95-97 Tacoma's. They fit very good on my '92 & '93 Cherokee's. I had them for a Minnesota and two Montana winters and they survived without pitting or cracking.
    I would not use plastic in harsh climates, unless sanding the haze and pits out is enjoyable to you.

    from what i understand the 88-95 headlights will work on the 95-97s

    I called them and they were pretty wishy washy on committing to a "yes" or "no" on the fitment.

    I told him they're going on a 98 core support so it's all a custom kind of deal.

    The beam is very similar to the round Hella E-codes that I had in a Wrangler of mine. I prefer the euro pattern.
    As far as I can tell these are a direct knock off of the Hella H4 rectangular E-code housings... which is fine by me, especially when they are a fraction of the cost.
