quick rear axle question

Is it normal to have a ruubber cap over the breather on my rear axle?

Wanting to know because iv been told to watch out that when I go into deep mud or water because water will go in the breather..obviously with a cap it won't

So is the cap normal?

 

Rubber cap over the breather will likely prevent the axle from breathing, and you may find that it will try and breath through the axle wheel seals instead creating a larger problem.

 

Hmm interesting cuz I never put it on and looks like its been on for a long time.

 

a rubby breather is like a Donkey Dick..yes..that is a real thing..ha Use them in the oil fields. But they are usually sealed in a metal housing too incase they burst. The rub expands and contracts.

However..not normal for our axles. Should have a breather. Use this opportunity to do the diff breather mod.
