I know there are some old threads here but I am wondering which intake everyone prefers.
I have a broken airbox currently and decided to just go with performance.
I own a 2000 tacoma with a 3.4 V6. I have big plans as a expedition vehicle. here is my truck how as it sits today.

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!
    Thanks,
    Jenkins

    truthfully..

stock is the best intake..its already a true CAI..

any aftermarket one is and intake that draws air from inside the engine bay.

just replace it if your going for an expedition vehicle. tried and true and you can add a snorkel easily later.

    - OME suspension - Custom front/rear tube bumpers - 33x12.5r15 BFG KOs - Deckplate mod + AFE reusable filter - Aero Turbine 2525 exhaust, chopped before leaf spring - Toyota Horns emblem by Diaz Fabrication - Pioneer stereo and new speakers + 10" sub - camper shell
if you really want an "aftermarket" intake you could buy a new stock intake and do the deckplate mod. at least it's reversible

I think the best thing to do in my opinion is use the stock air box with a quality filter and replace the actual tube to get rid of the silencers and rough internal surfaces. Airaid make just the replacement tube with the proper fittins for MAF sensor, ect.

Thank you all for the information. I was going to do the deck plate mod until my stock airbox out tube broke off entirely while moving it to change my plugs. I will order a new air box and start on this project soon before it gets to cold. I appreciate the replys!
