Like someone else mentioned, check the switch/hoses on the P/S pressure line. When turning full lock, the pump puts extra load on the engine and can cause it to die. This switch is supposed to open the throttle just a little more to prevent that. You mentioned you turned hard right so it could be related. There's also one for the A/C for the same reason.

This makes me think it is ignition related. Fuel starvation makes the engine stumble and hesitate before it finally stalls. Lack of ignition makes your engine shut down in about a half second.

There definitely could be a vacuum leak, but in my experience, vacuum leaks will make an engine hunt up and down for an idle.
It's worth it to check for a vacuum leak though. Spray a mist of starter fluid around your engine bay and see if it gets sucked in anywhere.

No matter what the issue is, sounds like it's time for a general tune-up at 170k. You said you did spark plugs, but you should definitely do the fuel filter and replace the cap and rotor.

No distributor on this model. ;)

Could be a faultyTPS, feeding the ECU the wrong information.

    Ahhhh. ooops!
These dang new cars got me all confused!! I'm used to my 90s cars with distributors and all that primitive stuff.

Now I feel silly, but I still think it's ignition related.

    lol... there's nothing here.
It's an uber-generic "my motor turned off" thread. There's literally no real info here. Total lack of information provided by OP, no CELs..etc
OP mentioned CEL was on but didn't even provide the code lol
There's nothing to be seen or taken away from this thread.
The real issue was almost certainly ignition related. Whether due to a failing component, or the computer being weird.

I had this problem and it was a loose ground wire.
