Hi all, have an 03 Tacoma TRD that has trouble starting. When I turn the key it seems to crank fine but it will crank for a while before it starts up. Sometimes it seems to just barely start but it hasnt not started yet. Any ideas on what it could be? I havent had it looked at yet, although I have read on tacomaworld that it may be an o2 sensor? Is this common? Thanks in advance.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Once it starts, tap the MAF lightly with the handle of a screwdriver. If the idle fluctuates the MAF is bad.

Other than that it could be a bad Coolant Temp Sensor or Air Intake Sensor, perhaps.

If you have more than 130ish K I'd change the 02 sensor.

Check the EGR is working correctly, it could be stuck open or closed.

Look for dry, cracked or broken vacuum lines, too.

O2 sensor shouldn't affect starting - you're not monitoring AFRs when the engine isn't running.

How old are your plugs? Fuel filter? Does it run normally once it's started?

not sure how old the plugs are or the fuel filter. I have only had the truck for a few months. It runs great once its started.

I just read CE codes P0031 and P0446.
