Hey all! My 97 4x2 taco has stock shocks and struts, 200k + miles. I recently got my hands on some decent used tires, 235/75/15. Super psyched as they are in better condition than my stock sized ones I had, also they lifted the truck a bit. New problem though: when I hit a dip that's deep enough my front tires hit the inside of the wheel wells and a bit of the fender and BARK at me really badly. So far no noticeable damage to tires, just visible scuffing on upper side walls where they meet the fender on dips. I've been all over google searching for kits or insight on lifting the non prerunner 4x2 of this year and can't find crap. Idk if the spacers you can get for the prerunner will work on the front struts. Of course i'll replace the struts and shocks with whatever lift I can find that works, but I just need someone to point me in the right direction for these lift parts! Thanks gals/guys.

My first idea would be coil spring spacers if you only need a little more room.
Cheap and easy to put in.

Ok cool. Do you know which spacers to use? Part of my post was asking if the same spacers for the 1st gen prerunners would work for it. I wasn't able to find spacers specific for my truck.

A coil spacer lift will make the ride extremely rough although is the cheapest route to go. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend...

Not too much as I don't really have a lot of money to do what I want. But at least for the time being until after fire season, those spacers should do.

    you running a 5lug or 6lug taco?

I have some fabtech lift spindles I will sell you for $250 that I was going to put on my 97 5 lug taco! They are the safest way to lift your 5lugger 3inch (maybe a little less) and 3 inches wider. I bought em for $500 used let me know I live not to far from sac would be willing to meet part way?

I might be interested in those! As for the moment though I have no cash haha. Gotta wait till tax return to do anything.

    I'd go for spindles then

Spindles Fo sho... As far as I know nobody makes spacers for 1st gen 5 lugs anyway. Your options are spindles or coil springs (or both :) ) Personally I went for spindles and rear shackles. The fabtech kit is discontinued now, only other manufacturer I know of is doetsch tech

Looks like fat bob does make a spacer, its not a strut spacer. It's an actual coil spacer.

Openin' this thread back up after a bit. Getting my tax return this week and I'm stoked to lift/level my yota. I see on fat bob's they only have a 1.5" level spacer kit for the front and then those sweet 3" spindles for $474 (woo money). I'd be opting for the 2" rear shackles also and then replacing all the shocks. That spindle cost has increased my original planned cost by a ton. Anyone know of used spindles or other options? I work in a shop so if there's need to repair a used spindle I have the tools.

Ok so the spindles are on and workin great, but I had trouble with the new front shocks. Basically they don't fit like the oem ones because they're a little bit bigger diameter. The shocks for front and back are the fabtech ones that are optional to purchase when you buy the spindle kit. Am I missing something here or do I have to go back in and tear the spring out?
