You could mock up some card stock paper and make another scoop on the driver's side to see how it would look... :spy:

Love the thread, jealous that you got this truck (for probably a stupid cheap price), and can't wait to see how it turns out...

    BUT

just to put this in perspective...this is the EXACT type of truck that every member on this forum would tell a Tacoma buyer to run away from as fast as possible.

And here we are...encouraging and cheering this guy on while he pulls out subframe damage using a tree in his backyard...

I appreciate the interest everyones has and the cheers. It definitely helps keeps me motivated to work on it and post up pictures. I hope it helps someone somewhere to see how I repaired what looked to a be junker parts truck. Yes I took a gamble to trust my eye ball and knowledge of the damage make a good buy. But I looked at worse case I parte it out and make some money.

But yeah id tell anyone the same thing...run!. This was a lot to get into. I do have access to more tools, awesome family members brains and skill and space than most to take on a project. But if anyone does run across a junker just look at it and take one step at a time. You can see I attacked one thing at a time each day I posted what I did THAT DAY.

But yes thanks again for all your comments. Like I said this site has helped me a ton with my 2nd gen. Time for me to pay it back all little.

Not sure what you meant in the last part of your comment? Why is it bad to cheer him on for taking a wrecked tacoma and bringing it back to life? I can see it being bad if he was half-assing and then sold it to someone else without telling them the history. But from what I can see he's doing a nice job with the tools he has access to.

I'm sure most people would run from this truck before it was fixed up. But if you have the access to the tools and knowledge of what it takes to get the truck in decent shape then why not take advantage of the cheap price and great project. Making me think I should look for a wrecked tacoma for a project. I'll be keeping an eye out, especially insurance/ police impound auctions

I would love to take on THIS big of a project. Unfortunately I'm busy with school, work, and family. But a HUGE kudos to UssMoGn. I've already learned a thing or two since I subbed. I kind of want to fab an air scoop for my intake and color match it after.

DO IT MAN! Hell I even talked to my brother about selling them out to people. He considered it but we would have buy a aftermarket fender, scoop it and ship the whole thing out, with minimal cutting on the buyers end. But that was just shop talk not sure if he really wanted to do it or not. But ill help ya out with any questions ya got if you do it.

I honestly have not got that far yet, I just ran into a snag today, When to install that Fan Pulley bracket, fan and shroud. Come to find out the guy i bought the Radiator, condenser, shroud and fan. Got me Older Model 4cyl 2.7 Stuff. All of it fits but is smaller than the V6 3.4L stuff. So I had to take if all off and box it back up. Waiting on word from him on who messed up my order, Him or Supplier. All I know is im a little pissed off right now, Tonight was suppose to be the first Start up night...:frusty:

BUT, I know it will get a Plate Bumper Front and Rear, probably a 3''ish lift and some 265/285 KM2s.

To be completely honest, my fab skills suck. Well....with my Harbor Freight wire fed welder just collecting dust...I may possibly be able to brush up on my skills. I think it would be awesome if you did that. I did my own projector retrofit, but I'm a little weary about tackling something that big on my own. If i had the tools and resources like you did, I'd be working on it right now. I think I want some modest aftermarket flared fenders, nothing too flashy, and stick an intake on one of those.
