I am installing 'manually' activated backup cam and alarm, and I can see wires between the cab and the bed, but I have a liner, and can't see how to run wires, or where they go into the cab and how to pull them in? Anyone do this before (with any kind of install?) -(1999 Tacoma 2wd X-cab)

No this is not how your 'supposed' to do it. The video screen will be removable and all etc. Its just getting wired into the cigarette lighter.

Is it an extra cab? If so the passenger side bottom right of the cab will have a rubber plug that when pulled out will gain access to the inside of the storage compartment under the rear passenger seat. Make a slit in the rubber plug and run your wires through there.

Yes, I should have said need to run the wires under the bed, so the access panel at the BACK of the cab, going outside, is on the left hand side? I can see some wires in the gap back there, but it looks more toward the middle.

Are you asking is that where the hole is or are you telling me that's where you want the wires to come out. I'm confused as hell right now lol

I'd like the wires to go out where there are already wires going out. It's definitely in the center of the back of the cab. I don't think there is an exit panel underneath the bench though. Crap.

Im trying to run the video and power cable for a back up camera, if that helps. I will be plugging it in manually to my 12v outlet.

Run your power cord under the centre console. Under the passenger seat up into the storage under the rear passenger seat. Put through the rubber grommet in the cab. Along the frame rail and your done.

you have to remove your rear seats and rear panel to get to the hole. the harness probably runs on one side and splits off in the rear for the tail lightsand license plate light. I havent ran anything back there yet but that makes sense. You could always do in reverse and follow the wires from your tail lights or license plate light all the to the front. you wont be able to see the run with a bedliner there or not. wires are most likely run through the body. silicone what ever hole you make in the grommet so wont water cant get into the vehicle.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
On my '97 there was a rubber grommet below the driver's seat that worked for me. I went under the bed along the frame.

I like that, I think they are the same body. PITA to take out the rear seats and stuff.
