I have 99 Prerunner ext cab. I plan on installing Dorman rear leafs, KYB rear shocks, and Monroe Sensi-Track Quick struts in the front.

Is it bad that my rear shocks are KYB and Front strut/coil are Monroe?

    Thanks!

Both are considered OEM replacements. I doubt you will be able to tell a major difference between the two brands.

brand is not specific as like stated, oem replacements.

however consider this: dorman is not exactly a QUALITY aftermarket/oem replacement option.

i ended up doing a lift for the price of a quality suspension replacement. and went with bilstein/eibach/allpro stuff. just my 2 cents :D

Just a thought. My friend has 270k miles on his '04 1st gen. When he needed springs, he tried the Dakars and didn't like them. So he had Deaver re-arch the stock springs and build him a custom add a leaf. Price was good and he loves it. Like I said 270k miles on those springs, and he hauls motorcycles all the time, dirt and street. He's had 3 dirt bikes in the back of that truck. He's not exactly easy on it.

For the record I have the Dakars and love them but they are not for everyone.

Hell no. I went with sway a way fronts, fox rears, and eibach/deavers/all-pro/toytec/GM supporting components. Best mixed suspension I have ever owned.

Thanks for the replies guys. Longo Toyota (worlds biggest Toyota Dealer) and Japanese Truck out of Wilmington, California both recommended Dorman as an aftermarket replacement for leafs.

Dealer said that if I didnt want to pay OEM dealer prices at their shop, then to go with Dorman. I was lucky enough to speak to their main truck mechanic. (if you call, ask for Kenji. He's Japanese and he is the head truck mechanic there at Longo)

Japanese Truck said to go with Dorman and they were better than OEM. Japenese Truck is a famous So Cal junk yard that only deals with japanese trucks, and they specialize in Tacomas.

I went ahead and picked up some Dorman leafs for about $106 each. Cool thing is that theyre made in South America and not China!

Do you guys recommend I change out my rear shocks? Im thinking of KYB for 38 bucks each. Thanks again for replies!!

If their worn out, damaged, or have at least 75k miles its not a bad ideal

Dorman parts have been acceptable as OEM replacements in my experience.

And it doesn't take much to make better leaf springs than Toyota OEM. :D OEM springs rust, squeak, and have poor load capacity. No need to pay the higher OEM profit markup in this case.
