Mine happens more in the cold. However, it has happened when its warm out side. I've even noticed when its raining (cooling off) it will happen more.

I did some more checking and found my "knock".

During hard turns to the right, the slight body roll (due to old/worn body mounts) is causing the pinch weld to hit my driver side slider. I have a 1/16" gap between the pinch weld and slider but they've definitely come in contact.

Glad you found yours. It rained today and mine started doing it again. Once it stopped and dried up/warmed up, it stopped.

It's got to be a body mount issue everyone's having. I'm too cheap/doesn't bother me enough to replace the mounts with urethane.

That's what I'm thinking mine is. And if that's the case then I'm not too worried. I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

Any update on this? With the cold mine has come back and I feel like it's getting worse. I'm still thinking body mounts but as far as I can tell they look ok. But I don't know how to tell if they're bad or not.

Just started to have the clunk coming back with the cold. Got it to happen just for a second just shaking the bed back and forth, but not long enough to be able to have somebody get underneath and check it out. Makes is super hard to chase down when it only happens when moving. I still think it has to be something directly connected to the frame just the way you can feel the clunk in your feet.

I have this clunking also, It started when the weather got cold. I describe it as sounding like a worn out shock with the rubber bushing missing. If I stand on the receiver hitch and lightly bounce I can hear it very loudly but still can't pinpoint where it's coming from. It sounds to me like it's on the right rear but I don't know. Yesterday I was riding in the passenger seat which I rarely do and I could really feel it through the floorboard. It seemed like it was also coming from the front end sitting there. I hope it's just a cold weather issue, I sure couldn't find anything loose.

    Wrong Generation but same problem.

My clunk is still there. Seems to really be the worst when it's wet. I wish I knew what the hell was clunking. Only happens when the truck flexes/twists around curves or up small curbs at low speeds.

I've been chasing a clunk in my truck... I find one... Think it's solved...then I hear it again. So far I had a bed bolt loose... Could hear/see the bed creak and move as I bounced on the bumper. I greased my u and slip joints. Torqued u bolts. Now I think it may be my right rear fox shock shaft because there is a tiny bit of play when I shake the shock around. I continue to chase the elusive clunk....

Glad i found this thread. My truck does this everytime while pulling up in my driveway. All suspension parts are new and pan mounts are new. No spare, new straps on the tank, new u bolts, new u joints. I had one tinny bang every now and then but that turned out to be the heatshield mounted on bottom of bed. Seeing all others with same problem puts my worry at ease

Possibly but it might be too simple. I've found that the cheap thin plastic rear inner fenders slap up against the underside of the box because they are not held up tightly enough by the plastic things they use. I'm either going to plastic rivet them in tight or put a healthy dab of silicon on the topside of the inner fenders and reinstall them to give them a little cushion zone. This should not be something that would only be cold weather related but even though mine are loose and I know they slap, I still don't really hear it when it's not cold out. It's worth a shot as I can't find anything else.

Hmm I never thought of this. When mine clunks though it definitely sounds like metal. And I can sometimes feel it in the floor board. I am wondering if maybe its some body panel underneath that flexes and pops? It happens mainly when the body flexes (going slowly up a bump like a curb onto a driveway, uneven smooth surfaces, body roll from turning, etc..)

I've got the clunk too. My Tacoma is mostly stock...just Bilsteins front and rear. I can tell you it's not the steering rack bushings or the body mounts because I replaced them with Energy Suspension and it made no difference. Lately I'm thinking it's the UCABs or LCABs or rear springs. But I'll grease the driveshaft first and see if that helps because that is so much easier.
