I got a 96 and I had the exact opposite problem. My back 2 windows and my rear sliding window had factory tint(that = out to be 20%) and my front 2 windows had no tint! So to fix my problem I got my front windows tinted!

so you want to get rid of the mirrored tint on the back in favor of a black tint?

yeah thats right. my front to windows are 20% but im abt to re do them and get them done 5%. but i had 20% on the inside of the back windows and i just stripped it off and it still looks like a mirror from the outside.

replace the glass with non tinted.
From what I know it is built into the window.
itis not a sticker like aftermarket tint...

    I would leave it alone...

I have a 98 and i tinted the back windows to 20% but I still have that mirrored sheen to the outside of them. I ordered new gray tinted factory windows from toyotaparts.com and it also has silver quality. I'm super-pissed that I can't find a direct replacement and have to return the windows. Does anyone know what the deal is or where I can get something non-reflective?

You could get some at a junk yard it'll be cheap and you'll learn how to take off/out the glass without worrying about hurting your truck

I can't fathom why anyone would want anything darker than 20-25% tint. 5%? 2.5%? Ridiculous! Looks over functionality I guess?

It's really not that bad. Can I see out of it at night yes and sometimes I do roll my windows down to back up but other than that it is not as bad as people think.

Actually that's not true. The only benefit is keeping people from seeing the interior. There are clear ceramic films that block more heat than 5% limo tint. It costs a little more, but is worth it.
