    Hey all

I have a 2003 toyota tacoma double cab sr5 trd option prerunner, i have had the truck since mile 02, it now has 180000 and i am looking to upgrade, the dealer told me it is worth $6000 to trade in.

    My questions are :

    1. thinking about putting up for sale myself, what is is worth, small dent in fender and runs great?

    2. What is the best place to list it, Craiglist, ebay...etc, ?

Just do a search for trucks similar to yours for sale in your area. Use ebay, craigslist, cars.com and autotrader to see what they are going for. Thats the best way to figure out what its worth. Remember people don't like unfixed body damage because it could indicate that other things on the vehicle were neglected.

Start with craigslist, cus its free, but be prepared to deal with folks that aren't too serious about buying.

I just sold my Tundra. Ebay will get you the most exposure, but it will cost $125 to sell. Autotrader is decent, but I didn't get alot of page views. Sold it to someone who saw it on craigslist. I had it listed at all 3.

Check KBB and others for trade in prices too...dealers like to give you a discount on a pruchase just to screw you over on your trade. I negotiated 30min on my trade and got up and almost walked out until they gave me what it was listed for in excellent condition (it actually was in excellent condition) Heps to come in prepared and with print outs of everything...in the end it was 2300 higher than their first offer!

My local dealer, for the past couple yrs, has been sending me mail offering 15K+ for my '03 Double Cab. Should be able to get AT LEAST that or more.

$7-10k, if you look up nada, kbb and Edmonds for values you will see a drastic difference in values, the average of the 3 is a pretty good indicator of value, $15,300 for 03 prerunner with 180k, not gonna happen,

Maybe not for a pre-runner, but I'm pretty sure I could get at least 15-16K for mine! ;)

In WA, the OP's truck would sell for around 10-12.

^ this guys truck would get 16-18k in WA. First gen DC 4x4's are a holy grail in my area. If they weren't so spendy I'd have a 4x4 vs my prerunner.

Ya, if the dealer is willing to give you 6k, you can get 8k selling it yourself IF you can deal with the hassles.
