I had a tire tread separation on the freeway today. That's when I discovered the emergency flashers don't work. Turn signals are fine, but when I press the button for the emergency flashers, nothing happens. No clicking noises, no lights, nothing.

I had a similar problem on my truck awhile ago except it cut out all my turn signals aswell. I had to pull the hazard button out and work it back and forth a lot and then it worked fine for me. Not sure if this will apply for you but worth a shot...good luck!

Did you have soda spilled into the switch or something?

I hate the location of the flashers, stereo, and drink holder on the 1st Gens.

I beleive their is a separate flasher under the dash for the emerg flashers . I know on chryslers and chevy , the relay is interchangeable which means you could remove the relay flasher from your regular signal lights and install where the relay flasher fits for the emerg flashers as a test to verify the relay flasher is not the problem .To find the signal light flasher ,turn the signal lights on and listen for clicking . Once you find it , look for another one thats similar . Sometimes the fuse box diagram shows it, Not sure on the yota though .
