I was working on my truck earlier today and noticed that my CV boot on the passenger side is completely bound and looks like a tangled piece of yarn. I tried straightening the boot fins out to a "normal appearance" but seemed to struggle. I then drove to a local Toyota only shop and asked for advice on the situation. The mechanic at the local shop said that all I need is a new clamp. Now I don't think its rocket science to figure out that a clamp will not fix the boot being bound the way it is. The mechanic said I could drive the way the boot is for a number of years and most likely not run into problems but I just had my cv axles and boots replaced a year ago and want to make them last as long as possible. I put a video below of my cv boot to help you guys understand whats going on. Any suggestions on how to solve my problem?

I really think the boot is just twisted. I would try taking the small end loose and twisting it until it straightens

x2. The BSM doesn't apply to outer boots as they are tear resistant.
