Pics of my "new" 1st Gen

Hey all,

I'm fairly new here and recently bought a 2002 Tacoma 4x4. I like the truck, even though I haven't driven it much yet, its a 4th vehicle, and sits in the garage waiting to be driven.

I have a couple questions and thought I would post a picture.

My question is, whats the best way to just lift the front so it sits level? I don't off road hard, mostly just trail riding. The only reason I want to raise the front is mainly for looks. So I'm not interested in lifting the whole truck, only the front. I think they look better level, I definitely don't want it higher in the front than the back.

Its a 2002 TRD 4X4, 5 speed with 68,000 miles. Arizona, no rust truck. It has Wrangler MTR LT265/75R16 tires. It has almost new Rancho RS9000XL shocks on it, so I dont really want to replace the shocks.

Also, I like the ride so I hope not to change it.

How much lift would you say my truck needs to sit level?

Any brand recomendations would be great.

Daystar ComfortRide top plate spacer. Just put one on my 2nd gen. Looks waaaaaay meaner. Love it. Cheap too

The easiest way to level it would be to put coil spacers in the front.

next would be get some bilstien 5100's!

get a set of bilstein 5100's for the front.....set at 1.75...........you'll be happy!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really like the 1st gen trucks and looked around a long time until I found a nice one. The last Toyota I owned was a 1981 std cab 4x4 that I bought new. This one brings back memories.

Thanks, but I'm not sure if I want to go with the front Bilsteins? This truck has almost new Rancho RS9000XL's on it. Would it be a good idea to mix front and rear shocks? Or a bad idea?

its a fine idea, they dont have to be the same brand

not gonna hurt a thing.................the bilsteins are awesome shocks man. you'll love the ride. you can always sell the rancho's here.

 

Definitely the cleanest 1st gen I have seen...partially due to the no rain climate of AZ.

 

Thanks man! Your right, we rarely get rain here and vehicles probably do stay a little cleaner.

The biggest problem with vehicles here is if they sit in the direct sun for many long hot summers, it takes its toll on rubber, paint and plastic. Luckily I have a garage and the fact its white, that helps too.

Hey another maybe dumb question (or 2?)

If I do a spacer lift or top plate spacer, do I have to re-align the front end?

how about..

If I do the bilstien shock and set to 1.75" higher, do I have to re-align the front end?

it would be a good idea to re align it...Tires are expensive.an alignments semi-cheap
