My Tacoma Steering is bad and 4X4 not working

Take a trip to the drive shaft shop and have them balance or replace your shaft if needed. The amount of centrifugal force put on the drive shaft after those three bolts broke is more then enough to throw your shaft out of balance.

 

im courious on how u broke 3/4 of the bolts??
and get ur drive shaft ballanced

 

is it posible, those bolts weren't torqued up to spec and vibrated lose?

80mph is fast, but it shouldn't be bad for the 4x4, even the manual says 80mph is the Maxium speed for 3rd gear in 4H.. 4th gear 103mph.. so that shouldn't be part of it.

 

Any suggestions of places? Toyota dealer? how much would they charge me to get it checked? should I have them install back the drive shaft to them? All suggestions are greatly appriciated!

sorry forgot to read last ones, It looks like that the 4x4 was previously worked on, maybe it was out of balance and the speed driving it at 80m/h make the other 3 loose and fell apart. Is it expensive to replace the drive shaft?

 

Take it to a machine shop and have it balanced first, it will be cheaper than buying a new one, and they'll be able to tell you if you need to buy a new one. Never solve a problem by just throwing parts at it. That's the dealership's job

 

You are right I got a place there to do that, Do I need to just take the Front drive shaft to get it balanced? or how does it work? I already have it out (because the bolts were out). let me know! Thanks
