By chalk I mean what Toyota white does when you don't wax it and leave it in the sun for 15 years. About as glossy as the side of your house.

Looking at the low miles, it's pretty obvious this truck sat in a field baking in the sun between uses. The yellow headlights confirm it. FL sun does not forgive. Seen it a hunnerd times. :p

I didn't really want a project truck. I mean to screw around with, yes. But I always prefer starting out clean with unmolested examples. No fixing other people's rigs and poorly executed mods. That's the OCD part of me. :D

Anyway, thanks fellas. This has been a great exercise. I learned a ton and am much better equipped when the next one rolls around. You guys rock.

looks like a body lift witch isn't hard to remove at all. but it is a clean truck and I would defiantly be interested in it for that price

I would buy this. I might request that they give it a "free" tuneup, but hey, good looking truck.

I would buy this truck in a heart beat, even if you didnt want to drive it you could buy it and sell it for more. I have seen the same truck sell by my house with no front bumper and 200k sell for 6500. If i was you i would go in there and offer 6k out the door and see what they say.

I understand about the sun damage and agree with the OP. That's why white is such a popular color in the southeast, because it sustains the least amount of sun damage over time. So if that was a darker color there probably wouldn't be any paint left on it by now. Possible a complete detail and polish job might clean up the dead paint, but not if I (the buyer) have to do it.

Personally I would buy stock and mod myself, but that's just me. I think this truck is an awesome deal! Just check the usual; frame, engine, etc. Let us know what you buy! :)

    Thanks, Oldstick...

And WT the rubbing compound works, provided there's enough paint still left on the truck. :D

Wonder what looks I'd get if I went to the dealer with my rotary buffer in hand to test a spot? hahaha... (I used to detail cars)

I got two new leads on 01+ Prerunners and I'm also entertaining at MINT 1986 pickup with 80k miles.

    Check that out:

Beautiful! Not exactly the ground clearance I'm after but she's still a sweet find.

the manual tacoma won't turn-over the engine unless you have the clutch on the floor
UNLESS, you hit that button... then it will

i believe ECT button determines at what rpms your auto shifts: more or less, depending on whether you press it

Yep! What he said. The button is handy if you want to start your truck on a steep incline... like a rock for example. You can hit the button, leave your rig in 1st and turn the key. The starter on the manual trucks is powerful enough to move the truck forward as it turns the engine over. That way the truck doesn't roll back when you start it. Pretty cool, if you ask me.:)

See that? That's my ideal setup right there. Of course with a sane price and perhaps different wheels/tires but it's close enough.

Can the OP go OT without getting in trouble around here? :D

Can you run the vin against police reports to see what speed that frontal impact occurred at? Is that possible?
