Alright guys, I've read endlessly about lifts, suspension parts, shocks, coilovers, leaf springs, etc, etc, etc. and for some reason I'm just not getting it. For some reason I can't wrap my head around what parts I'll need to combine without getting a full lift kit which is way out of my budget (this could mainly be because I'm a lady  ) . I'm not looking for a $1,500 lift. I don't do anything crazy, like rock crawling. Maybe just a little off roading in the summer and fall.
So I currently have BFG All Terrains that are rubbing on my fenders so that's my main reason to lift and to look cool to gain more friends OF COURSE.

I was hoping to find a 3" lift within $400-$700 and I can install the lift with the help of a master mechanic friend.

I'm unsure if I need coilovers and AAL or Bilsteins and AAL or just the spacers or what! Clearly i'm confused....think you guys can combine some parts for me to buy?! Haha, thanks!

    common responses/remarks;

spacers = harsh ride, truly cheapest lift available

coils + shocks + aal = second cheapest, commonly used

    coilovers + new pack = $$$

look at billy 5100s + eibachs or the 883(?)'s + aal IMO - probably be over budget by a little.

Look at this: I am going at 882s! for 3" Lift.. will cost about $600 for the front then you can level out the rear with these shackles:

That's a great deal since it has everything included. I'm just worried that when i go to add the leaf, my current leaves will crumble. When i bought the truck, it had sat for so long that the rust underneath is unbelievable. I bought it last May and its a 2003 which had 29,000 miles on it.

So if I have this right, this is what I'll need if I don't go theToytec lift kit route.

    - Bilstein 5100's set at 2.5"
    - OME 881 or 882s? Not sure of the difference
    - Extended rear brake line
    - Rear Bilstein 5100's
    - Old Man Emu CS046R Dakar Leaf Spring Set - - A bushing kit? (whatever that is )
    - An exhaust bracket kit

    ------

this seems like I'll only get 2.5" out of the above...is it possible to add spacers on top of the above lift and rear shackle to get the extra 1"-1.5"? Or am I crazy?:p

Here you go Erin... this chart explains the different spring heights and rates. OME 881 and 882 are listed as 2881 and 2882 in the chart, respectively.

They have the same spring rate, just different free heights. The 882 is 20mm taller.

You can also keep your stock springs in the front with billies to save some money, and chop your exhaust after the axle to not have to buy the relocate bracket.

That's a pretty sweet set up!

    JUST A THOUGHT - - -

Could i run 5100's set at 2.5 in the front with stock(existing) coils/springs?
And then get a whatever size leaf shackle for the back and keep the existing rear shocks OR an AAL in the back and keep the existing rear shocks. This will save me TONS of money and she only has 40,000 miles on her so i'm not worried about the springs or rear shocks too much. Figured i could save money and replace the rear shocks and front springs as needed
