Hi, I am pretty new to trucks, never had one before, I am looking to buy a 1996 Tacoma, has some mods including a lift and other things. It has 179,000 miles on it, around 220,000 km I guess. I'm thinking about buying it and maybe rebuildiung the engine. Wondering where the best places to either get a new motor is, or where to get the best yet cheapest rebuild kit. Currently I have found this.

    Cheers

Thank you for any help, it is appreciated.

Before you buy .... have the frame inspected. The 1st gens have had problems with INTERNAL frame rot. Internally - so you can't see it from the outside.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I appreciate it. I passed on the truck. I think I will just save some more and get into something that has less mileage on it and is in better shape.

Get something as stock as possible. In some cases, not all, modified cars have been ragged on.
